Welcome to Ms. Scott's
Second Grade Class
Welcome to Ms. Scott’s second grade class! This is my 19th year of teaching and my second year at the wonderful GCA Charter School. I taught PreK through 6th grade and have done 2nd grade for ten years and I'm ready for my eleventh year in Second Grade! I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a happy and productive school year.
Here's a little about my background before GCA:
I graduated from Long Island University in1998 with my BA in Psychology and in 2001 with a MS in Education. I have also complete all my course work for my PhD in Educational Leadership, still working on my dissertation.
Teaching children is my passion! I love to see children grasp new concepts and feel successful in their accomplishments. Daily, I seek to implement the philosophy of the Chinese Proverb which says, "I hear and I forget; I see and I remember; I do and I understand." GCA is a perfect place for me to expand on my belief in "doing to understand". Programs like STEM and Project Based Learning are concepts that I have embraced, used in my classrooms and look forward to continuing to teach using these methods here at GCA.
In my spare time, I love to read books, shop and travel. Of those, travel is my favorite. I love to be around my family laughing and having fun!
I am looking forward to an amazing year with your children!
"Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work."
